Getting to know... Scott Atwood

Scott is one of our Business Development Managers in the US. Based in San Diego, Scott helps businesses find the right solution to help them transform and secure their networks. We caught up with Scott to find out what makes him tick…

What is a typical working day at Xalient like for you?

As I am eight hours behind the UK, I start early and often in the dark, making calls throughout the day to reach out to my customers and new prospects. You’ll often find me presenting to prospects, strategic alliances/partners, informing them about Xalient and how we can help their networks transform and be more secure.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I relish the satisfaction in seeing a solution we’ve provided for customer achieve the intended aim and benefit. Hearing positive feedback always brings a smile to your face.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Once I’ve had that first cup of coffee, I think they’d describe me as fun, determined and a pleasure to work with. I’ll choose to imagine it’s the same before a coffee too. I’m partial to a Starbucks Venti Iced Coffee, black with no sweetener, but will settle for a mug of dark roast coffee at home.

What’s the first thing you do when you start your working day?

Make coffee!

If you could have a drink with anyone (fictional, alive, dead, famous, non-famous), who would it be and why?

I would have an Iced Tea with Warren Buffett. His famous line I live by;

We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful.

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

If Xalient announced a last-minute day off for tomorrow, what would you do with your suddenly free day?

I would make coffee, tell my wife to have a great day at work and go walking at the beach with our dogs – Bunny, a Lab/Rottweiler, and Max, a Lab/Great Dane mix. Bunny is six and Max is thirteen.

Do you have a favorite mantra/quote?

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal; It is the courage to continue that counts”. – Winston Churchill

What inspires you?

Making people around me smile and be happy.
