In our latest staff spotlight interview, we sit down with Jayne Hancock, our Strategic Engagements and Alliances Director. Jayne brings her wealth of experience and vibrant personality to Xalient, contributing significantly to our dynamic team. Let’s dive into Jayne’s journey, motivations, and the unique aspects that make her an integral part of the Xalient family.
What is your current role at Xalient and how long have you been part of the Xalient family?
I joined Xalient in May 2023 and currently serve as the Strategic Engagements and Alliances Director.
What motivated you to join Xalient?
I wanted to return to work for a customer focused company, with a strong tech pedigree and a great culture. The more people I met through the interview process, the more I knew I wanted to join! At Xalient, it is all about the people.
How does Xalient align with your career goals and values?
Honesty and integrity are important values to me, and this aligns well with Xalient’s ethos. The company has also provided me with a flexible career platform to allow me to thrive in the organisation. This also helps with a work/life balance as family life is equally important to me.
Describe a typical day in your role?
I have a varied role, so every day can be different but building trusted relationships with Clients, colleagues and partners is at the heart of everything that I do. Being part of the Xalient customer and partner growth is an exciting journey.
What do you enjoy most about working at Xalient? Can you share a memorable or rewarding experience during your time here?
Everyone at Xalient is treated with respect and the SLT are approachable, and they lead from the front. The 2023 Xalient summit at Studios captured the essence of Xalient perfectly. A memorable moment at the event was recording “Hey Jude” with colleagues and Clients in the studios. That is a customer moment I will not forget.
How would you describe the team culture at Xalient?
Positive, collaborative, and fast-paced. Everyone at Xalient leans in and works together to achieve customer’s outcomes.
What’s your favourite thing about the industry Xalient operates in?
I’ve worked in Cyber for 25 years, and it constantly changes and evolves.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Xalient?
Cyber is a multifaceted industry with many different roles. My advice for anyone considering Xalient – be your authentic self. Raw and experienced talent and a positive attitude are recognised rather than what degree, certification you may have – the technology piece can be learned. People are empowered at Xalient and everyone has a voice, so all creative ideas are listened to.
Share an interesting fact about yourself that others might not know.
On the professional front, I am an introvert thriving in sales. On the personal front, I snowboarded and climbed Kilimanjaro a few years ago.
Is there something on your personal or professional bucket list?
Despite having visited several places where it is possible to see the Northern Lights, I have not been lucky enough to see them, so this remains on my bucket list.
Are you into any specific tech gadgets or innovations?
I’m not a gadget person, but I’m starting to dabble with ChatGPT.
What’s the last book you read, or movie/TV show you enjoyed?
I have a short attention span and rarely read anything but the news but I do enjoy podcasts and documentaries. I regularly listen to Steven Bartlett’s interview podcasts where a topic perks interest and I am currently watching anything by Dr Michael Moseley as I’m trying to be a little bit healthier.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Japan, I never managed to visit on my travels and would love to visit to see a completely different culture and to also sample the snow out there.
What are your must-have apps for productivity or relaxation?
None, I have enough tech in my day job so like to get outdoors with the family to relax.
What’s an item or possession you cherish the most?
Not really an item, but my family and friends are everything to me.
