In the past few years, the physical auction has been transformed into a digital B2B platform (Floriday) for all participants in the industry. To make further digitization a success, it is vital that the basic processes are in good order and ready for the future. Properly designing a Digital Identity system contributes to this objective.

Royal FloraHolland holds a distinctive position in the market as a cooperative focused on delivering long-term, sustainable success for its members.
The industry’s increasing digitization required a shift in approach, with new cyber and operational risks. The new approach involves changes in internal processes and a redefined approach to engaging with growers, customers, and third parties.
Royal FloraHolland views Cybersecurity as a “business enabler” rather than a “barrier” and aims to facilitate business processes in a secure manner by continually answering these key questions:

  • How do employees, partners, and suppliers perform their tasks?
  •  How can the barriers to access be minimized for all target groups?
  • How can technological solutions be effectively integrated within the organization?

Involving all stakeholders in the implementation of CyberArk, Okta and SailPoint IdentityNow, Royal FloraHolland created an integrated solution that is well aligned with their target groups.
With a holistic approach to digital identity, pragmatism takes precedence over a project-driven strategy. Royal FloraHolland divided the various domains—Identity Governance & Administration, Privileged Access Management, and the future Customer Identity & Access Management—into separate projects.

In collaboration with Xalient, Royal FloraHolland developped an integrated approach to enhance and maintain control over their Digital Identity environment in a practical and effective way.

Because human transformation is a key condition for digital transformation, Royal FloraHolland introduced the “PAMification” journey within their organization, which focusses on the 12 steps to achieving PAM success. As a result, employees working with CyberArk now perceive security less as an obligation and more as a necessary and authentic practice that aligns with the current way of working.

Royal FloraHolland successfully achieved “business enablement.” Employees and customers are no longer distracted by peripheral issues and are able to focus on their core business.

  • The Joiner, Mover, Leaver process has been automated for 5,000 internal identities within the organization.
  • Over 20,000 external identities can now manage their own access requests and authorizations through self-service. This gives members, customers, and suppliers greater control.

"We have achieved business enablement. Royal FloraHolland’s employees and customers are no longer engaged in peripheral issues but can focus on their core business. "
